I started my Young Living journey in February 2020 because I was intrigued by all the praises I see on Facebook by an acquaintance of mine in our church group. I saw her passion for the products and how she uses them in her daily life to take care of her family.
Finally, I decided to send her a message to her Facebook account and asked her on how to join the Young Living company. Being experienced in the world of multi-level marketing, I do understand that if I sign up with her, she will be compensated for that. Besides, she is the reason why I decided to try it out. I signed up and ordered my Premium Starter Kit. While waiting for my kit to arrive, this lady kept sending me links and DIYs on how to use the oils in the starter kit. As we go along this journey together, she became a friend and a mentor.
Premium Starter Kit
What goes in a Premium Starter Kit? These are the oils I received and I love every single one of them.
Lemon – cold pressed from the fresh fruit peel; it has refreshing and cooling properties. Its citrus scent is an instant pick-me-up.
Lavender – steam distilled; this is the most versatile of all essential oils. Its refreshing, relaxing scent has balancing properties that also bring a sense of calm.
Peppermint – one of the oldest and most highly regarded herbs; it has a fresh aroma that is energizing to give you a renewed feeling of vigor.
Copaiba – distilled from gum resin that is wild harvested from Brazilian copaiba, this oil contains the highest amounts of beta caryophyllene of any known essential oil.
Frankincense – known to promote younger, fresher looking skin; also known for its sweet, warm, balsamic aroma with calming properties that can increase spirituality and inner strength.
Purification – contains citronella oil; the sweet refreshing scent deodorizes unpleasant odors in the air.
PanAway – contains wintergreen and clove essential oils; widely used for massage after physical activity.
Thieves – contains powerful essential oils that have many household and personal uses; diffuse throughout the home to neutralize unwanted odors or apply to the bottoms of the feet.
R.C. – an ideal complement to enhanced vegetable oil complex for creating a spa-like atmosphere during massage.
DiGize – a blend of pure Tarragon, Ginger, Peppermint and other essential oils that may bring about calming feelings.
Northern Lights Black Spruce – comes from Young Living’s Northern Lights Farm in British Columbia, Canada; diffuse this rich, woodsy scent during meditation to create a fresh aromatic atmosphere.
How do you use the oils in your starter kit?
There are three ways of using essential oils: aromatically, topically and internally.
Aromatically – use the essential oils aromatically to uplift your spirit.
- Rub 2 – 3 drops of essential oils between your palms and inhale.
- Add a few drops of essential oil to a bowl of hot water. Breathe deeply and slowly.
- Add a few drops of essential oil into your diffuser.
Topically – many essential oils are safe and beneficial to use on the skin. You may place 2-3 drops of essential oil directly on affected area and massage in. Some oils are very potent and can irritate your skin. These oils need to be diluted with your choice of carrier oil.
Internally – Young Living has a Plus Line dietary oils. You can use these oils by using 1-2 drops in your water or when cooking.
My favorite diffuser oils
Odor Control – 3 drops of Purification and 2 drops of Lemon; this blend is very useful after I cooked dinner, especially when I made fried chicken or some dishes with lots of spices
Relaxation – 2 drops Lavender, 2 drops Copaiba, and 1 drop Frankincense; helps me relax after a long day’s work
Immunity – 4 drops Thieves and 2 drops Lemon; diffused when I feel under the weather.
Seasonal Relief – 2 drops Lavender, 2 drops Peppermint and 2 drops Lemon; perfect during drastic change of weather that brings allergic reaction.
My favorite roll-on blends
Essential oils can also be applied topically. Since Young Living’s oils are very potent, I dilute them with a carrier oil. Here are my favorite roll-on blends:
Tummy Comfort – 10 drops DiGize on a 10ml roller, then fill it up with your carrier oil. Rub on upset tummy and feel comfortable right away. I use this blend on my son when he suffers from colic or indigestion.
Spring Trio – fill a 10ml roller with 20 drops of lavender, lemon and peppermint, and fill your bottle with your choice of carrier oil. I roll this blend on the palm of my hands, rub my hands together and breathe in this refreshing scent. This has helped me during allergy season.
Eczema Blend – in a 4oz bottle add 15 drops of Lavender, Black Spruce, and Copaiba, 10 drops of Purification and Peppermint, and 20 drops of Frankincense and Myrrh; fill the bottle with your carrier oil. I used castor oil since this is thicker than the other carrier oils so it can help deeply moisturize my son’s skin. This blend is a game-changer for us.
